Barbra Streisand Makes First Late-Night Talk Show Appearance (Other Than A Cameo) In Over Four Decades On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon
Legendary singer and comedian Barbra Streisand hasn’t appeared on a late-night talk show since 1963. (Though we shouldn’t forget her brief 1994 cameo on The Late Show with David Letterman.) But 1994 or 1963, any way you slice it, Streisand’s appearance here on The Tonight Show is a big deal. Such a big deal, in fact, that she was Jimmy Fallon’s only guest for the entire show. What’s the occasion? A new album of duets titled “Partners,” which has Streisand pairing up with the likes of Blake Shelton, Elvis Presley, and Michael Bublé. None of those men (nope, not even the ghost of Elvis) were on hand to croon the night away with Barbra so Fallon took over for them, donning wigs, stetsons, and bow ties in order to complete the illusions. But while Fallon’s performance was undeniably goofy, his pipes are actually no joke. He even wowed Barbra with his Shelton impression.
But the real treat here is Streisand whose reaction shots are almost as good as her vocals. Watch her high kick and toss back one-liners with the best of them. She may be rolling her eyes, but she also seems to be genuinely enjoying herself. What a treat.
